Instrument stands

I currently make stands for a number of stringed musical instruments. In each case the stand has been developed in consultation with active players of the instrument in question.

All stands are made from bent and shaped wooded components which give both strength and elegance. It is my intention that my stands are seen as attractive pieces of furniture to grace any living space. Instruments are protected both by the strength and quality of the design, and also by natural cork buffers on all contact points.

I choose to use native hardwoods (and in some cases temperate hardwoods as well). Most of the colouring of these timbers is quite muted but there are opportunities for interesting highlights and subtle patterns using the figuring of the wood.

I am always on the lookout for opportunities to make stands for other instruments. Currently I am investigating stands for Saxaphones and Bagpipes! If you need a stand for that unusual instrument please get in touch.

Instrument stands are now available from stock or to order in a variety of timbers hand finished with Danish Oil. Alternatively the stand can be stained to an amazing range of colours which I finish with an acrylic lacquer.
